The FIFG Board recently met to review key strategic matters and continue preparations for the upcoming General Assembly.
Governance & Development
The Board continued its work on strengthening FIFG’s governance framework. A number of governance and regulatory documents are currently under review as part of the Federation’s commitment to establishing clear, transparent and consistent standards across FIFG and its member countries.
Competitions & Future International Tournament Structure
The future development of FIFG competitions was an important part of the Board discussions.
The Competition Committee is conducting a detailed analysis of the current international competition structure and is developing proposals for the future calendar cycle, frequency, sequencing and overall structure of FIFG’s major international tournaments.
The Board emphasized the need for a more sustainable approach, particularly in terms of both time and financial commitments. The future competition structure should help ease the pressure on member countries and players while maintaining the quality and importance of FIFG’s major international events.
The objective is to create a clearer and more sustainable long-term competition framework that provides greater planning certainty while taking into consideration the resources required from national associations, organizers and players.
A detailed analysis, report and final proposal are expected to be presented to the Board at its October Board Meeting.
Anti-Doping: A Core FIFG Objective
The fight against doping remains one of FIFG’s key objectives and an essential part of the Federation’s commitment to responsible sport governance and international recognition.
The Board reaffirmed that FIFG’s anti-doping commitments cannot be reduced or waived, particularly as they form an important part of the standards required for the continued recognition and development of FootGolf as an international sport.
FIFG will therefore continue its anti-doping programme, with an increasing focus on education, awareness and preventive measures. The work already underway in these areas will continue and be further developed.
Membership & National Associations
FIFG will begin a detailed evaluation of its member countries, looking not only at participation and membership development but also at governance standards, transparency and development.
The purpose is to establish a clearer picture of the current situation across the Federation, identify areas where improvements or additional support may be required, and strengthen standards throughout the FIFG membership.
This evaluation will contribute to FIFG’s future membership and development strategy.
General Assembly
Preparations for the upcoming FIFG General Assembly are progressing.
The motions submitted by Swiss FootGolf have been discussed by the Board and included in the General Assembly agenda.
Proposals concerning changes to the Rules of FootGolf were also reviewed. Any amendments to the Rules must follow the appropriate separate rules process through the relevant FIFG structures before they can be implemented.
The General Assembly will also address governance matters, regulatory developments and updates on the ongoing work of FIFG.
The FIFG Board remains committed to strengthening the Federation’s governance, supporting its members, protecting the integrity of the sport and developing a sustainable international structure for the future of FootGolf.
