The destination will welcome more than 1,200 players from 60 countries in a tournament that boosts sports tourism
Acapulco, Guerrero, May 16, 2026.- The destination continues advancing preparations for the FIFG FootGolf World Championship 2026 following a coordination meeting between the Municipal Government of Acapulco, tournament organizers, and media representatives, where operational and promotional aspects of the international event were defined.
The meeting included the participation of Fernando Name, Director of the Mexican FootGolf Federation; Gerardo Jean, Director of Televisa Puebla Región Centro; and Gabo H, Director of Televisa Acapulco, who reviewed the tournament logistics and its impact on promoting the destination to athletes, technical teams, and visitors from around the world.
Turtle Dunes Country Club at Princess Mundo Imperial and Tres Vidas Acapulco will serve as competition venues for the men’s, senior men’s, and women’s categories, offering infrastructure that combines specialized sports facilities with the destination’s hospitality offerings.
The event will bring together more than 1,200 players from 60 countries and 48 federations, with an estimated economic impact of 145 million pesos, in addition to direct benefits for hotel occupancy, the restaurant industry, and local commerce.
The tournament will showcase Acapulco’s organizational capacity, hospitality, and tourism operations to an international audience, further strengthening its position as a host destination for world-class sporting events, with the support of Mayor Abelina López Rodríguez.
