Following recent events related to the capture of the leader of one of the country’s major criminal organizations by special forces on Sunday, February 22, in the State of Jalisco, the Organizing Committee of the FIFG FootGolf World Championship Acapulco 2026 has remained in direct and permanent communication with the authorities of the State of Guerrero to closely monitor the situation.
As a reaction to this operation, road blockades and public disturbances were reported in several regions of Mexico, primarily in the western part of the country.
In Acapulco, authorities report a zero-incident status. No clashes, casualties, or combat-related actions have been recorded. The city continues its activities under normal conditions.
Additionally, activities for the Abierto Mexicano de Tenis, an international event of the ATP, begin today as scheduled, welcoming thousands of national and international visitors without disruption or security concerns.
The authorities of the State of Guerrero have confirmed that the necessary security and stability conditions are fully in place to ensure the successful and safe organization of the FIFG FootGolf World Championship Acapulco 2026, guaranteeing a secure environment for athletes, delegations, sponsors, and visitors.
We reiterate our commitment to transparent and responsible communication. We strongly recommend following updates only through official sources, as misinformation and false reports are currently circulating on various digital platforms.
Sincerely,
Organizing Committee
FIFG FootGolf World Championship Acapulco 2026
