MADRID, Spain — Within the framework of the Feria Internacional de Turismo (FITUR), the state of Guerrero officially announced the staging of the 2026 FootGolf World Championship in Acapulco, an event that will take place from May 27 to June 7, 2026

This competition will bring together more than 1,200 participants from 60 nationalities and will feature the presence of 48 federations, positioning the port of Acapulco as a venue equipped to host large-scale international events.

The presentation ceremony was attended by key figures in the organization of the tournament, including Seyed Rezvani, CEO of Grupo Mundo Imperial; Aleksander Kravanja, President of the International FootGolf Federation (FIFG); Fernando Name Guzzy, CEO of the Mexican FootGolf Federation (FMFG); and Simón Quiñones Orozco, Secretary of Tourism for the state of Guerrero.

From the perspective of meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) tourism, this World Championship represents a success story with a tangible impact on the destination. According to the figures presented, over 4,000 room nights have already been booked.

An economic impact of 145 million pesos (roughly mid-seven-figure USD) is also estimated, of which 135 million pesos will directly benefit Acapulco’s local economy thanks to the influx of international delegations, operational staff, federation representatives and accompanying guests during the nearly two-week duration of the event.

In his remarks, Simón Quiñones Orozco emphasized that the 2026 FootGolf World Championship is a driver for both tourism and economic reactivation for the port, consolidating Acapulco as a safe, modern and competitive destination on the international stage.

The promotional strategy for the event is aligned with initiatives such as Visit México, Marca México, and the RoadToAcapulco campaign. This promotion is being carried out by the International FootGolf Federation in nearly 70 countries, reinforcing Mexico’s reputation as a capable host of world-class sporting and business events.
