Around 1,200 footgolfers from 60 nationalities and 48 federations will participate in Acapulco 2026
Madrid, Spain. – Today, at one of the most important tourism fairs in the world, FITUR (International Tourism Fair), during the closing of activities, the state of Guerrero presented to the world the official launch of the FootGolf World Cup, which will take place in Acapulco from May 27 to June 7, 2026.
The main stage featured the participation of Seyed Rezvani, CEO of Grupo Mundo Imperial; Aleksander Kravanja, President of the FIFG (International FootGolf Federation); Fernando Name Guzzy, CEO of the FMFG (Mexican FootGolf Federation); and Mr. Simón Quiñones Orozco, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guerrero.
“The hosting of the FootGolf World Cup 2026 will boost the tourism and economic recovery of the port and will strengthen Acapulco as a safe, modern, and competitive destination at both national and international levels,” stated Mr. Simón Quiñones.
Grupo Mundo Imperial currently has more than 4,000 room-nights already reserved for this important event, which aims to generate an economic impact of 145 million pesos in Mexico, of which 135 million will directly benefit Acapulco.
For his part, FIFG President Aleksander Kravanja noted: “Mexico reaffirms its leadership in hosting sporting events, promoting access to FootGolf and strengthening community participation.”
Since Kravanja assumed the presidency of the FIFG, the sport has experienced significant growth, welcoming new federations across Africa, Asia, and the Americas, reaching nearly 70 nations now incorporated into the federation.

Fernando Name Guzzy, CEO of the Mexican FootGolf Federation and organizer of the championship, emphasized that, in coordination with different levels of government, the tournament seeks to promote not only the sport but also the country through a joint promotional effort that strengthens both athletic development and Mexico’s international presence. He also reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the promotion of the women’s division, highlighting that female participants stand out for their technique and skills, and invited everyone to join this tournament, assuring that FootGolf is a sport open to all.
He added that, as part of the promotion of the FootGolf World Cup 2026, a global campaign was launched under Visit Mexico, the Mexico brand, and #RoadToAcapulco. Through the International FootGolf Federation, materials have been distributed across different countries, and the campaign is being promoted through its official website and social media channels, generating international impact and increasing interest in both Mexico and the tournament.
To conclude, Mr. Quiñones stated: “One of our country’s priorities is to bring back the Home of the Sun, since Acapulco was the first destination to elevate tourism in Mexico. Guerrero is fully committed to supporting the FootGolf World Cup so that it becomes a success. For all of us, it is a source of pride, honor, and pleasure that the International FootGolf Federation and the Mexican FootGolf Federation have chosen our state for this great event. After Acapulco has already hosted international tournaments worth 500 and 1,000 points in this discipline, what better moment than now to welcome the sport’s most important event.”
At the end of the ceremony, the members of the presidium signed a collaboration agreement to ensure that the Acapulco 2026 World Cup—the fifth in the history of the sport—will be a resounding success.
