Youth Take Center Stage at Inaugural NJYS FootGolf Championships in the United States

The FIFG is proud to spotlight a historic moment for youth FootGolf in the United States, as New Jersey Youth Soccer (NJYS) successfully hosted its first-ever NJYS FootGolf Championships in partnership with Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg, New Jersey.

The event welcomed over 140 boys and girls across U11/U12 and U13/U14 age divisions, marking a major milestone in introducing FootGolf to younger athletes in a structured and competitive environment. Held at the stunning Crystal Springs Resort—home to two FootGolf courses and a three-time host of the U.S. FootGolf Open—the championship delivered an exciting day that blended competition, camaraderie, and celebration of the sport.

“Partnering with New Jersey Youth Soccer marks a groundbreaking moment for FootGolf in the U.S., introducing youth to the sport and paving the way for future growth,” said Laura Balestrini, President of the American FootGolf League (AFGL).

Event Highlights:

  • Participation from youth players across the state—and beyond—including Albany, NY
  • A strong focus on inclusion, learning, and fun, while still rewarding top performers with medals and prizes
  • Skill challenges like Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin added extra excitement
  • Winners from each division were invited back to attend the 2025 U.S. FootGolf Open this October

“This event exceeded our expectations,” said Evan Dabby, CEO of NJ Youth Soccer. “The positive energy, the beautiful venue, and the enthusiasm of players and families made it truly special.”

Players expressed excitement about both the sport and the sense of community it fostered. “I loved meeting new players and cheering each other on,” said U11/U12 participant Gigi Violante, while fellow competitor Gabriella Case shared her thrill at nearly scoring a hole-in-one.

FootGolf professional and Team USA athlete Mark Woodward played an active role at the event, offering guidance and encouragement to the young participants.

“Growing the game at the youth level is so important,” said Woodward. “The kids brought great energy, and it’s clear they’re enjoying FootGolf—it’s inspiring to watch.”

A Collaborative Push for Youth FootGolf

The event was made possible thanks to the partnership between NJ Youth Soccer, Crystal Springs Resort, AFGL, and national FootGolf stakeholders, with FIFG values deeply embedded in its execution. The championship reflected FIFG’s mission to grow the sport at all levels and regions, including its critical youth segment.

“Today’s youth are tomorrow’s champions,” said Chris Mulvihill, Chief Marketing Officer of Crystal Springs Resort. “We’re proud to support this movement and nurture the next generation of FootGolfers.”

As the global FootGolf community continues to expand, the NJYS FootGolf Championships set a new benchmark for grassroots development in North America. FIFG congratulates all players, parents, organizers, and supporters who made this pioneering event a success.
